I am extremely grateful and excited for the opportunity to complete a summer internship at Elia & Theodorou Dental Group. In this clinic, l will be able to explore various fields of dentistry from minimal invasive dentistry and periodontics to preventative dentistry. Lakis Kestas, who graduated in 1996, pursued his passion for aviation after completing his military service. He studied at the prestigious Oxford Air Training School and is now a Captain at Ryanair.

I am extremely thankful to receive a commendation award for the annual World DNA Day Essay Competition held by Medicover Genetics. The topic being, ‘How unfolding the DNA code can help precision medicine’. In my essay I focused on pharmacogenetics, specifically how side effects of a drug can be minimized using genotype-guided dosing. Moreover, I discussed the possibility of implementing gene editing techniques to prevent the heritage of diseases, utilizing the CRISPR complex, as well as the benefits of gene testing.

I am thrilled and incredibly grateful for the opportunity to complete a two-week internship at Autolus Therapeutics in London this June. Autolus is a biopharmaceutical company developing next-generation, programmed T cell therapies for the treatment of cancer and autoimmune disease. Interning abroad will challenge me to leave my comfort zone, while offering a unique opportunity to learn about scientific research in the biopharmaceutical industry. I’m looking forward to immersing myself in day-to-day operations, learning from industry experts, and contributing to real-world initiatives that will surely define my future goals in this field.
