Through our robotics lessons, Class 6 students obtain problem solving skills, enhance their critical thinking and acquire a better understanding of logical operations and programming concepts. Lego Mindstorms encourages them to build with more variety, such as gears, a variety of sensors and motors. It also promotes engineering where students can take various plastic pieces to construct robots, buggies or devices, while ensuring they “move” or “operate” together to successfully and repeatedly, perform a task. Fun activities like Line Following and Sumo Battles enhance imagination and creativity. Competing with each other in a sumo battle or line following speed enables them to come up with intricate solutions to defeat their opponents. When entering the brainstorming process, students come up with multiple solutions and through testing as well as trial & error, they refine their code or redesign their robots to get the best possible results.
