The American Academy Private School celebrates the International Day of Sign Languages. Sign languages are important since they bring various communities together. Let’s all take a moment to acknowledge and appreciate the significance of this day, as well as the significance of individuals with hearing impediments who enrich our world with their talents and unique perspectives. A big shout out to our secondary school students from classes 1, 2, 3 for their time and effort in learning this song during music lessons. Much appreciation to all students and their music teacher, Ms Zoi Dimosthenous. Happy International Sign Language Day to you all!

Our Health day was a great success. This year our students learnt about Mental Health and how important it is to deal with our feelings. The whole school had a healthy breakfast, fruitsalad and yogurt. They enjoyed sport sessions and a lot of fun activities. This day could not have been the same without the help of the dentist Mrs Economou from Euroclinic dental centre, G. Anastasiou Joinery LTD, our dance teacher Ms Soteroulla for her zumba sessions and Ms Svetlana for yoga. The professional volleyball players from AEL Limassol, Apollon basketball ifaistos wheelchair athletes and Mr Afxentis for the sport sessions. Thank you to Karmi fruitmarket, Stayfit studio, Achnagal dairy products and Zorbas.

A big thank you to our staff for their hard work.

Our Head of Houses, PE teachers and newly elected House Captains coordinated our games and team building activities at our first house event. The House system is an intrinsic part of our school, due to the team building ethics which underpin it. This system promotes fair play and team spirit, as students are able to form bonds with other students of all ages within their House; developing peer support and loyalty. The House system also creates ways in which students and staff can feel more connected to one another and the entire school community, helping to foster intergroup relationships and promote a friendly competitive spirit along the way.

The European Day of Languages was celebrated at our school. The aim was to show the diversity of languages within Europe and to encourage more people to learn another language. Throughout Europe, over 800 million Europeans are represented in the Council of Europe’s member states and all are encouraged to discover more languages as part of their studies. This stems from the Council of Europe’s conviction that linguistic diversity is a tool for achieving greater intercultural understanding. Therefore, the Council of Europe, in Strasbourg, promotes plurilingualism with their initiative, the European Day of Languages, together with the European Commission.
Our Class 7 students also had a bake sale as a fund raiser for their graduation ceremony and Classes 1, 2 and 3 participated in a drawing competition.
