We’re excited to share an exclusive interview featuring our very own Mrs. Yiota Skitini Nicolaides, our esteemed Careers Counselor, and proud alumna of the American Academy Limassol!
Andreana Christofidou, a soon-to-be graduate, had the honor to sit down with Mrs. Yiota, who herself graduated in 1997. After completing her BA (Hons) in Accounting and Finance followed by a Masters in International Finance, Mrs. Yiota’s journey took an intriguing turn towards understanding and empowering others.
Throughout her career, Mrs. Yiota discovered her passion for education and personal development, becoming a certified Coach specializing in Education, the Brain, and NLP, as well as a Life Coach. She’s committed to making a positive impact on people’s lives, serving as our Careers Guidance Counsellor and through her own educational counselling business, where she mentors and coaches teens on studying smarter, not harder, and assists them in choosing the correct pathway.
Andreana, renowned for her people skills, is poised to embark on her educational journey in Psychology, and we’re confident in her success!
A heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Yiota for generously sharing her personal experiences and inspiring us all!

Being accepted into a summer internship programme for three week feels like a monumental achievement, especially considering how challenging it was to secure the spot. The recruitment process was incredibly short, a testament to the high level of skills and qualifications required. The internship will take place at Deloitte for their She.Can.Internship programme. As a student of American Academy i am very proud to announce that this not only will provide me the opportunity to immerse myself in hands-on learning but also to absorb as much knowledge as possible, as its a chance to gain real-world experience, expand my skills and network with professionals in my field. This internship isn’t just a job for the summer; it’s a big step towards my future career goals. I’m enthusiastic about the journey ahead and committed to making the most of every moment, seizing every chance for growth and development.

I am very pleased to announce that after an interview and recruitment process, I have been chosen and approved for a summer internship at Deloitte for their She.Can.Internship programme. The programme will take place over the course of three weeks in July where I will work alongside the Deloitte professionals and gain valuable experience in STEM. Furthermore, this internship is a huge honour as only a limited number of girls islandwide, from both private and public schools, were accepted. Fortunately, I met their criteria and had the qualifications. Being an intern at such a prestigious company is a huge responsibility however, I am enthusiastic about this opportunity and I will make sure to proudly represent the American Academy as well as females in such a challenging, male dominated industry. I believe this programme will enhance my knowledge and allow me to become a more well-rounded student in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
