On the 22nd October, a group of our Secondary School students, mainly consisting of our democratically elected class and school presidents, visited the House of Representatives in Nicosia. They were given a talk by a senior civil servant on the history and working of the Parliament of the Republic of Cyprus and given the opportunity to ask their own questions on governance and the electoral process. After this the students held a mock Parliamentary debate in the chamber itself. Our students were praised for the intelligence of their questions and debate and for the way they conducted themselves with dignity, good manners and respect.

American Academy Educational Fair:
A Huge Success Through Teamwork and Community Support
Our Educational Fair was a resounding success, showcasing the collaborative efforts of students, educators and global representatives. This event not only highlighted the importance of teamwork, but also emphasized the invaluable support from the school community and the insights provided by international representatives.
Our enthusiastic student volunteers played a crucial role in the planning and execution of the fair. They assisted in organising logistics, setting up booths and welcoming attendees, demonstrating leadership and commitment. They also facilitated interactions between attendees and global representatives, ensuring that everyone had the opportunity to ask questions and gain insights. The school community also rallied behind the event, with parents and educators.
Representatives from universities added a global perspective to our event, enriching the experience for attendees. These representatives offered invaluable guidance on topics such as admissions, scholarship opportunities and career pathways. Their expertise provided attendees with a broader understanding of educational opportunities available worldwide.
Attendees expressed gratitude for the wealth of information shared and many found the guidance on navigating higher education invaluable. The event fostered connections not only among students and educators but also between families and global representatives, creating a supportive network that extends beyond the fair.
Our Educational Fair’s success was therefore a testament to the power of teamwork, community support and global collaboration. The contributions of student helpers, our Careers Counsellor, the backing of the school community and the insights from international representatives all played vital roles in creating a memorable and impactful event.
As we look to the future, it’s essential to build on this experience, encouraging ongoing collaboration among students, educators and global partners. The fair will inspire even greater achievements in future educational initiatives, reinforcing the importance of community and global engagement in education.
