On Tuesday 26th March, representatives from our secondary school classes were given the opportunity to visit the House of Representatives in Nicosia. The majority of students who went were democratically elected Class Presidents.
Our students attended a presentation on the workings of Government in Cyprus and were given the opportunity to ask questions about how democracy works and its history. They have also been invited back later in the year to meet with the House President.

On Wednesday 20th March 2024, 5 of our students took part in the Sci-Tech Challenge National Finals in Nicosia. 70 students from 14 different schools showcased their ideas on how to design sustainable energy- efficient homes. Our students focused on inventing a turbine system which could be installed in all water pipes that would generate electricity every time a tap was opened or a washing machine loaded etc. We congratulate our students for their enthusiasm, team work and creativity they showed in this challenge.

House Event – Friday 15th March.
The House System is an intrinsic part of our school due to the team building ethics which underpin it. Our system promotes fair play and team spirit as students are able to form bonds with other students of all ages within their House; developing peer support and loyalty. Our recent House event created ways in which students and staff could feel more connected to, and be involved with, the school community.

On the 5th March 2024 several of our upper school students attended a presentation by Exxonmobil Cyprus. The presentation was focused around introducing the students to the countless career paths one could follow if a STEM (Science-technology-Maths-Engineering) curriculum is followed in school and university. The students were given an interesting insight as to how Exxonmobil engineers and geologists search for possible gas reserves at sea and how they then proceed to prepare, drill and trap the gas for extraction. This presentation is a part of the Cyprus Junior Achievement Award and the National Sci-Tech Challenge 2024. At the end of the presentation students were split into small teams and were given 20 minutes to propose alternate methods of making our school more energy efficient. From this presentation 5 students were selected and have moved onto the next round which will be the National Sci-Teach Challenge which will be an all day competition on the 20th March 2024.The competition involves a challenge that will be presented at the beginning of the day; students will be asked to come up with solutions and present them by the end of the day. The team which will come up with the best solution will represent Cyprus at the European Sci-Tech Challenge 2024.

Celebrating carnival at our primary school.

Y3 presented an amazing assembly. All students made their own handmade masks, played many games and were entertained by a magician with his magical tricks. To finish off our exciting day, there was a carnival parade with a best costume prize for each class. Our little ones also played with piñatas and had face painting.

What a lovely day!
